polycarbonate

A versatile solution suitable for a variety of applications: from construction to communication, from DIY to design, from architecture to industry... Transparent, translucent or opaque surfaces that adapt to any design requirement. The wide range of panels/sheets/systems makes it possible both to satisfy aesthetic expectations, thanks to the possibility of customising the colour with any desired shade, and to meet technical-functional requirements, thanks to the co-extrusion of specific treatments into the product. A thermoplastic material made unique by combining a series of technical features.

Transparency

The solid crystal-coloured products have a degree of transparency similar to glass or Plexiglass®, whereas the multiwall versions guarantee high light transmission, creating elegant textured effects and luminous plays of refracted colours (see the section dedicated to colours).

Impact resistance

Unlike glass or PMMA Plexiglass®, polycarbonate surfaces are characterised by excellent resistance to loads, impacts and hail. This is an essential feature for applications in public/school/sports environments in order to ensure safety in the construction of translucent surfaces and for industrial protections.

Lightness

Ease of handling and installation are key elements for choosing the most suitable translucent solution when it comes to sizing load-bearing structures and evaluating the logistics of a construction site.

Sustainability

Polycarbonate is a 100% recyclable product that can be given a second life and Dott.Gallina's processes are based on zero-waste production which minimises environmental impact. In addition to this, the installation of modular multiwall systems actively contributes to the construction of certified eco-sustainable buildings.

Thermal insulation

Façades and roofs made with multiwall PC panels are renowned for combining the benefits of natural indoor lighting with thermal transmittance performance, which reaches values as low as 0.4 W/m2k, ensuring real energy savings for the buildings

Flexibility

A special feature of polycarbonate is its high resilience. This feature gives our products high impact resistance, which, combined with flexibility, makes the sheets extremely manageable during transport, handling, processing, installation and any replacement operations.

Products

The range of polycarbonate sheets and modular systems is vast and constantly evolving, with the added possibility of customising the panels to better adapt the product to individual application needs: infinite translucent or opaque colours and co-extrusion treatments to specifically enhance functional performance. All this is made possible thanks to complete autonomy in designing and manufacturing production systems in our own internal workshop: 60 years of know-how made available to the customer... with the ambition of “dressing architecture in light” thanks to translucent surfaces and volumes.

An intuition in 1960

It all began thanks to the dynamism of our ‘Doctor’, PierAulo Gallina, who, in the heart of Turin's industrial district, founded a company specialising in the extrusion of plastic profiles for the automotive sector. It was a powerful intuition, capable of opening new paths and laying the foundations for a business destined to grow.
